John Hughes wants to celebrate a hattrick of wins today with some flowing football.
Falkirk will be looking to extend their winning run when in-form Dundee United are their visitors today after seeing off Kilmarnock and Inverness Caley. The Bairns produced a good performance to overcome Caley on Tuesday night as they progressed to the semi finals of the CIS Cup and manager John Hughes was particularly pleased with the way his team defended their lead in the face of some intense pressure from the Highland side.
He said: "While we played some neat passing football in the first half, Caley came at us after the break and we really had to dig in and cling on to our lead. It's a side of our game that we don't display often enough and I was really pleased that we achieved a shut-out as we haven't had too many this season. I'm also really pleased for our goalkeeper Scott Flinders. He's had to be patient and wait for his chance but he made some great saves at crucial times for us the other night. Between him and Robert Olejnik I have two good goalkeepers and, just as in the other areas of the team, that creates competition for places which is what I'm looking for. Robert's disappointed not to be in the first team but I watched him play for the reserves in midweek and he's a true professional." | Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba.net)
