Laryea Kingston wants to be the next Hearts captain.

Hearts midfielder Laryea Kingston sees it as an honour to be considered by manager Csaba Laszlo as a candidate for the vacant role of captain. The Tynecastle outfit need a new leader on the pitch following Robbie Neilson's departure and Kingston is understood to be one of three candidates for the job. The Ghana international has confirmed he is happy at the Edinburgh club and hopes Hearts can challenge Celtic and Rangers for next season's title.

He said: "
I am very happy here and if I was to be asked to be captain it would be a great honour. Hearts is one of the best teams in Scotland and this season hopefully we can challenge the Old Firm. It would be a very big thing for me to captain the club and I am ready to do it if the manager asks me. I would bring my experience to the role and try to pass this on to the other players."
