The Challenge Cup seems to suddenly land just as SFL teams are putting the finishing touches to pre-season build ups. Cowdenbeath have a long trip to Peterhead on Saturday.
Lennon made his second signing of the summer when he secured long-term target McBride on a 6-month loan deal and the player trains with the squad Thursday. The 19-year old left-sided attacking player made his debut for Dunfermline against Hearts in the CIS Cup two years ago and spent a successful spell on loan with Arbroath during 2007/08. Lennon said: "I am delighted to add Scott to the squad. I have been tracking him for over 6 months and was very impressed with his performance in the reserve game against Dunfermline towards the end of the season." Cowden have defeated Fife Amateur side Cupar Hearts 6-3 away and have played at Ross County (last Saturday) in their latest pre-season build up games and tonight (Wednesday) they play Lothian Thistle at Saughton Astro Turf. St Johnstone at home next Tuesday completes the pre-season build-up but the Fifers may almost have forgotten that they have Peterhead away on Saturday in The Challenge Cup. The Bloo Toon steamrollered Cowden a couple of times on their march out of Division 3 and into First Division play-off territory and Balmoor Stadium hasn't particularly been a happy hunting ground for Cowden in the last few years. However, armed with new optimism after a disappointing end to last season (they lost out on promotion in a penalty shoot-out against Stenhousemuir in a play-off final) the Fifers will head north with future possibilities on their minds. Cowden launch their new strip on Thursday with the away kit once again giving a nod towards the tragi-comedic "Blue Brazil" moniker (it's yellow with touches of green) and the home kit containing more blue than last term. | ||
