'Nothing I haven't seen before' according to one Hamilton official. But the media caught this one on camera

Hamilton secretary Scott Struthers has played down the now well documented scenes that took place at the end of the Hamilton v Hearts match on Sunday saying: "I was present throughout and the referee dealt with the incident, although he took an hour to do so, and I don’t expect the matter to go further." Only took the Referee an hour? Couldn’t have been much then. Hearts also stated that no further action should be taken. They would like to think so baring in mind their poor disciplinary record.

So what’s all the fuss about? Apparently not much happened after the game and in the words of Mr. Struthers: "There was some pushing and shoving. Nothing I haven’t seen before." Hamilton’s Leon Knight, Hearts club masseur Alan Robson along with players Suso Santana and Ian Black were all given the equivalent of a red card after the trouble in the tunnel.

Nothing abnormal to report according to the two clubs, yet according to the BBC commentator there were "unbelievable scenes" at the back of the tunnel. "It’s absolutely mad in there, there are fights breaking out in the tunnel, everybody is involved. There are players, there are police in there. Punches are being thrown everywhere. What on earth is going on? Something very, very serious went wild in there." But according to Accies boss Billy Reid, what happened in the tunnel at full time happens so many times.

I was a senior linesman during the eighties and early nineties and I have followed football all my life but I honestly can’t remember an incident like this happening in Scottish senior football and definitely not on a regular basis as the two clubs would have us believe. It will now be up to the SFA to investigate the incident and until they do so, lets hope that we don’t get this type of behaviour happening regularly as it appears the clubs believe. Hearts next match is against Dundee United on Saturday. They go into the game on five red and 31 yellow cards and Dundee United on six reds and 27 yellows. So the scene is set for another uneventful SPL match that "Happens so many times." And "Nothing I haven’t seen before."
