Raith Rovers are hoping that former Marseille, Hearts, Dundee United and Southampton midfielder Rudi Skacel will sign for them as they build a side to challenge for promotion to the Premiership. The Czech Republic internationalist, whose 37th birthday it is today, was a spectator at Friday's Betfred Cup tie against Cove Rangers at Forfar's Station Park and it is hope he will train with the Kirkcaldy club next week.
Manager Gary Locke said: "I hope we can persuade him to sign for the club. I am delighted he has agreed to link up with us and I am certain his presence will create a real buzz as the season gets underway. He knows how to score goals, and to create chances for others, so he could be a key player for us in the months ahead."
