Burnley
Bowditch loan extended
Story by Tony Scholes
2005-04-07

Bowditch joined us for a month’s loan on 9th March, three days ahead of the home game against Rotherham and has played in all of our five games since then. He was due to return to Portman Road after Saturday’s trip to Gillingham but now will be available for the remaining six games although Ipswich do have the option of recalling him immediately.

Whilst with the Clarets he was called up for the England Under-19 squad. He played in two of the three games against Denmark and Sweden over the Easter Weekend, both of which were won 1-0.

Steve Cotterill was pleased to have been able to retain him and said, “Dean is a good young player and he will help us out until the end of the season.”

His Ipswich boss Long Ball Joe was more than happy for him to stay and said, “He scored for Burnley and by all accounts did well against West Ham so we are happy for Dean to stay there.

“It was all about the lad getting regular first team football and that’s what he is getting. He is there until May but we have an agreement that he can be recalled should we need him back quickly.”
